KU Final Four Nails!

If you've been reading my blog for more than a month, you know I went to the University of Kansas and am a huge fan! This year we are in the Final Four and I could not be more excited. I am celebrating and prepping for the game this weekend by what else- decorating my nails for good luck!

I started off with A England Order of the Garter from the Legends Collection. OOTG is a royal blue holo that is just gorgeous! I then alternated nails with OPI Animal-istic, a deep red that I am basically in love with. Then I decided to feature a basketball on my thumb! I used a mixture of Nicole by OPI Hard-Kourt Fashionista and OPI Barefoot in Barcelona with a tiny drop of LA Colors Metallic Red to create the basketball. I used Essie Licorice for the outline of the basketball and the trail of the basketball going over my nails.

Have a great weekend and Rock Chalk!

My Take On: A England Saint George

Hi everyone! Today I have a gorgeous swatch for you- A England Saint George. This color is so rich and gorgeous! It really only needed one coat which is ridiculous. I added a second coat for depth though. Saint George is a dark teal holo with silver microglitter. So far, my favorite of the A England Legends Collection!

MDNA Cover Art Inspired Nails

Hey everyone! Yesterday Madonna's new album MDNA was released. It's pretty dance-pop, with a few standout songs. What I really like about it is the cover art! So much so that I decided to try out a mani inspired by it! I also just love the bright neon colors!

I started with a base of Essie Licorice and then created stripes with Essie Trophy Wife, OPI Fly, OPI Alpine Snow, Zoya Audrina and Maybelline Express Finish in Fiery.

Enjoy!

Neutral+Neon Nails

Hey everyone!

Today I have a mani from two weeks ago I never got around to posting! This look features such a hot trend right now- neon + neutrals!

I wanted to get on the popular trend with my nails! I used my ultimate favorite neutral- OPI Barefoot in Barcelona. Then I added french mani tips with OPI Did It On Em from the Nicki Minaj Collection. I really love this combo and want to try more neutral+neon manicures! My mani was even featured on Beauty High's Nail call! See it here

Hope you enjoy!

Music Monday: Justin Bieber 'Boyfriend'

Hi everyone! Hope you all had great weekends. Now I just can't help myself from dedicating today's post to Justin Bieber's brand new single, 'Boyfriend.' If you are a JB fan of any kind, you'll know how much he has been hyping this up to be a different sound than his older music. It definitely is! It reminds me a bit of Chris Brown. JB still sings, but with much more of an R&B vibe to it.

Take a listen here and let me know what you think of it in the comments!

My Week of Hunger Games Inspired Nails: Day 4

Happy Friday! Today I have my final Hunger Games inspired mani. I saw the movie last night at midnight (yep, I'm cool like that) and I LOVED it. I thought it portrayed the book really well and Jennifer Lawrence was great.

On to the nails!I used OPI Animalistic (my fave red) and Urban Outfitters Gold Glitter to create a gradient look. To me it looks like Nails on Fire!

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

My Week of Hunger Games Inspired Nails- Day 3

Hey everyone! If you are a huge Hunger Games fan like me, you are probably going to see the midnight premiere! I am so excited for this. Today I have my third 'tribute' (hah, see what I did there?) to the Hunger Games with my mani! I chose to highlight a very specific, but vital point in the book. It just happens to be the final line of the book too. This point of the book keeps you guessing and leaves you running out to buy the second book in the series!

I used Nicole by OPI Keep it Real for a base color, Sally Hansen Antiqued Gold Crackle and Essie Licorice for the text. I used Essie Luxe Effects As Gold as it Gets as a top coat. I chose these colors because of the fire symbolism throughout the books.

Enjoy and Happy Hunger Games!

My Week of Hunger Games Inspired Nails- Day 2!

Hey everyone! Today I have my second Hunger Games Inspired mani! Again, I'm using firey colors! I chose to use the splatter technique for this mani. I started with a base coat of gold which I mixed KleanColor Metallic Yellow and Zoya Jules together to make. I then used the splatter technique with LA Colors Metallic Red and Essie Wrapped in Rubies. I added two coats of CND Crimson Sparkle Effect. I love all of the Hunger Games nails I've been seeing and I hope you enjoy these!

My Week of Hunger Games Inspired Nails! Day 1

Hey everyone! Like millions of others, I am a huge fan of The Hunger Games! I read all three books last year and am dying for the movie this Friday! Here's a look at the trailer if you haven't seen it...

I decided to try my hand at some Hunger Games inspired nail art, something I've been seeing a ton of bloggers doing the past few weeks. This may have to do with the China Glaze collection that came out as a collaboration with the movie. Unfortunately I haven't gotten my hands on any yet.

For my first Hunger Games mani I chose some colors that reflect on the movie's poster, theme and everything- fire! I just received KleanColor Chunky Holo Black and I've been wanting to try it out and this was the perfect opporunity. I started with two coats of OPI Black Onyx. I then used 3 coats of KleanColor Chunky Holo Black- a flakie with a black base. This polish has both microglitter and larger hexagonal glitter. It appears red and green in varying lights which reminded me of fire!

Enjoy and Happy Hunger Games :)

The Perfect St. Patrick's Day Green- A England Dragon

Happy Friday! Today I have what I think is the perfect green shade for your St. Patty's day celebrations! One of the shades I received from Funky Frenchies, A England's Dragon- fits the bill! Dragon is a holo forest green that is utterly gorgeous! I used two coats and it was perfect.

Enjoy and have a safe and happy St. Patty's Day!

St. Patrick's Day Nails! Rainbows + Pot of Gold

Hi everyone! Today I have a very festive St. Patrick's Day Mani for you! I chose to highlight the rainbow/pot of gold idea rather than four leaf clovers etc.

I created the rainbow look freehand with a thin nail art brush. I finished the rainbow nails off with Essie LuxeEffects As Gold As It Gets. Below are the colors I used!

Red: Nicole by OPI Keep It Real
Yellow: KleanColor Metallic Yellow
Green: Zoya Apple
Blue: KleanColor Metallic Aqua
Purple: LA Colors Metallic Purple

For my thumbs, I started with one coat of KleanColor Metallic Yellow and then added three coats of Urban Outfitters Gold Glitter polish to create the 'pot of gold.'

Have a great St. Patty's Day everyone!

Bow Mani with Chanel Riva

Hey everyone! Today I have a really cute mani for you! I saw this tutorial from The Beauty Department and I knew I just had to try out! I started out with a white base to help Chanel Riva pop as it it normally taked 3-4 coats and gets very goopy. With a white base, I only needed two coats! I then created a diagonal piece on top with Essie Playa del Platinum. I then used a thin nail art brush to paint a bow with Essie Licorice. This mani is just adorable and I can definitely see trying this one out with a variety of colors, maybe a glitter bow next time? :)

Enjoy!

My Take On: A England Princess Sabra (Legends Collection)

Hey everyone! Today I have my first swatch from A England's Legends Collection. Big thanks to Funky Frenchies for this collection that I won in her giveaway!

I chose to try Princess Sabra first, as it looked like the color I'd wear most often! Princess Sabra is a beige/gold holo that is just gorgeous! This is my first A England polish and I must say it applied like a dream. I only used two coats on this. I found myself staring at my nails all day! Definitely a winner in my books. I'll be swatching all of Legends collection over the next couple of weeks!

Have you tried any of the shades from the Legends Collection?

Music Monday: Adele vs. Daft Punk, Madonna and more!

Hello there friends! Today I have quite the variety of songs for you. Hope you enjoy this and that they will help you get through your Monday!

1. Golden Baby-Coeur De Pirate
I'm a sucker for French tunes, especially when they put me in as good of a mood as this track does!

2. Something About the Fire (Carlos Serranos Remix)- Adele vs. Daft Punk
This Mash-up of Adele's Set Fire to the Rain and Daft Punk's Something About Us is simply perfect. The two songs go so well together you'd think it was the real thing.

3. Girl Gone Wild (Dave Aude Remix) -Madonna
Another track from Madonna's new album MDNA. Poppy, catchy, everything you'd expect from the Queen of Pop.

4. Surely-SBTRKT
One of my favorites so far this year.

Enjoy!

Metallic Green Ruffian Manicure

Good morning and Happy Friday! Sorry for the lack of post yesterday. So I was sporting this mani last week when I was in NYC! It was a bit fun, but subtle and that's why I love it so much! I started with two coats of KleanColor Metallic Green- a super bright lime shade. I then used Essie Smokin' Hot on top to create the Ruffian Manicure look. Since the green was so bright I had to use 3-4 coats to get the right shade of Smokin' Hot. I really love how this turned out, with the splash of color beneath the more neutral shade!

Have a great weekend!

My Take On: Hard Candy Beetle

Hi everyone and happy hump day! Today I have my review of Hard Candy Beetle- a metallic red/copper that changes with the light. I must say I really love this color. I only had to use two coats, and this applies very well. In the sun, it gives off almost a green color while indoors it is more copper/red. I really like this shade and I don't have anything like it! Hope you enjoy!
