OPI Do You Lilac It vs. Illamasqua Jo'Mina

Hello everyone! So I bought Illamasqua Jo'Mina last summer in London at Selfridges and LOVED it. I wore it on my toes all summer long. This year, I got OPI Do You Lilac It and felt the same way. But when I put DYLI on...I was so annoyed because to me it looked identical to Jo'Mina! Today I have the two colors compared side by side.

OPI DYLI and Jo'Mina

Can you tell the difference below?

How about in this one?

I found the only real difference to be that Jo'Mina is a tinge more neon than DYLI. Next to Jo'Mina, DYLI looks surprisingly dull.

What do you think of these two colors?

Album Preview of Beyonce's "4"

Hi everyone!

Beyonce's next album, titled "4" is coming out pretty soon. A few of the tracks have made their way around blogs etc. and from what I've's going to be great. Here are some tracks to preview...and decide what you think before getting the cd!

-Girls (Who Run The World): Her first track off the cd to come out...many people have seen the music video or heard this power girl-anthem. I personally love this song, and find it to be classic Sasha Fierce.

Run The World (Girls) by BeyoncĂ©

-1+1: I first heard this track performed by Beyonce on American Idol and I HATED it. Couldn't get into at all, and even ended up fast forwarding! After hearing it again...and watching this amazing video of her rehearsing for AI taken by Jay-Z...I've changed my mind. Still not my favorite song, but I like it.

-Best Thing I Never Had: This one is a great girl-power anthem as well, telling off an ex-boyfriend that she is better off without him. Good bass and she sounds great!

Best Thing I Never Had by BeyoncĂ©

-Countdown: I love love this one. Has a good Destiny's Child vibe to it. Makes me want to get up and dance!

-Party (ft. Andre 3000): This is also a great upbeat song. Feels like a good song to be playing in the background at a trendy bar haha.

What do you think of these tracks? Will you be getting her album?

Glamour-Inspired Geo Mani

Hi everyone! This may go down as my favorite mani of all time. I wore this last week and finally got the pictures up.

I saw this mani in Glamour last week and was amazed.

I tried my own version using OPI Stranger Tides as the base with Zoya Audrina and Butter London Blagger as my shapes. At first, I used tape but I soon realized it wasn't really doing any better than freehand. I continued doing the shapes by hand and as you can tell, I am not too good at this but from far away it looks great haha! I really like this kind of mani and it's not too hard.

Just with OPI Stranger Tides:

What do you think of this kind of mani? Would you ever try something like this?

Debut of Britney Spears "I Wanna Go" Video

Hi everyone!

Check out Britney's latest music video below. I love this one especially because it is just fun, and the focus isn't on dancing or some big choreographed video. I also feel like Britney is having fun too, and it shows.

What do you think of the video?

Moves Like Jagger

I've been watching The Voice and so far have really enjoyed it. It is hard for a show to get started with a different premise when America is so used to the format of Americal Idol, but in some ways, I like The Voice more!

Today two of the four "mentors," Adam Levine of Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera have collaborated on a song that will debut tonight on the show.

Check it out here:

It sounds like standard Maroon 5 to me, but it's really catchy!

What do you think?

June Nail Trends According to Glamour

Hi everyone!

Ever since getting an iPad, I've started reading Glamour's blog posts on an app called Flipboard. I was happily surprised with the amount of nail polish coverage, and am always interested in the fun ideas and trends they write about. Sometimes they even inspire me for great new manis!

As always, nail polish trends come in and out so quickly, but summer trends are the most fun in my opinion. Here are some photos from the Glamour blog of June's nail polish trends!

What some are calling the "plus one" manicure. I love this trend and have not tried it enough! (can anyone guess what's coming this week?) Great for toes too!

Love this twist on a french, kind of a double french both on the top and bottom of the nail. Endless color combos! Article here.

Metallics, of is Jennifer Lopez sporting silver nails.

And last but not least is the mossy, seafoam green color. Shown below is Essie Absolutely Shore but OPI Stranger Tides is similar to this trend. Glamour deems this their favorite color for June

Only thing missing here is shatter, but many think that trend is dying, despite the constant outpour of new shades from basically every brand of shatter/crackle.

Have you tried any of these trends? What do you think will be "hot" for July?

Glitter Sandwich Birthday Mani!

My birthday was yesterday and I wanted to celebrate on my nails!

Inspired by Glitta Gloves and Liquid Jelly and of course many others...I wanted to try the "Glitter Sandwich."

I used two coats of Butter London Rosie Lee, one coat of OPI Simmer and Shimmer from the Burlesque collection...followed by two coats of Essie Soho Nude (which I think is discontinued?).

Just with the glitter:

With Soho Nude:

I really like the way this turned out, subtle but still fun and glittery! If I did this again I would try with chunkier glitter and maybe a different color on top like a light pink or light blue.

Have you tried this trend?

Music Video Premiere: Lady Gaga's Edge of Glory!

Happy Thursday everyone!

For those of you who are not fans of So You Think You Can Dance, you missed out tonight. Not just because of the amazing dancers and performances...but tonight on SYTYCD Lady Gaga premiered her newest music video for her single, Edge of Glory. The video takes us through a sketchy-looking city as Gaga roams the streets in an outfit that for her, isn't that outrageous. I was expecting more of a storyline especially from a song that has such an easy storyline to follow.

Check it out here:

What do you think of her newest video? Just as bonkers and fabulous as her others?Or left you feeling a bit, "meh"

Morning Pick-Me-Up

Good Morning everyone!

All morning I've been thinking it's Thursday...what a bummer!

If anyone else is feeling the Hump Day blues, enjoy the below videos!

Katy Perry's newest video is hilarious as she throws herself back into 8th grade. I'm a big fan of Katy's and was surprised this song hasn't been one of her singles yet! It's such a fun summer tune, and the video just adds to it!

Look out for the cameos from Rebecca Black of "Friday" fame, Kevin McHale and Darren Criss from Glee, and Corey Feldman and Debbie Gibson.

Katy has also posted some ridiculous shorts related to the video, and she has created a facebook page for her alter ego, Kathy Beth Perry.

My Take On: OPI Rally Pretty Pink

Today I've tried on OPI's Rally Pretty Pink, a great pink with a punch of gold glitter...on the verge of a foil. At first, I thought I only needed two coats but after looking at it again and again, realized it definitely needed a third.

I literally could not stop staring at my nails all day! I know many bloggers post this color with the red shatter it comes with, but I love this on its own! I'm sure I can find another color to wear with the red :)

Have you tried this color yet? Are you a fan of it?

OPI Navy Shatter + Essie Splash of Grenadine

Hey everyone! Excited to be blogging from my iPad again after getting a great device that lets me upload pictures directly to the iPad. For anyone else blogging on the iPad, I use Blogpress for blogging and Photogene for photo editing. I tried Photoshop Express but it is missing a lot of features that I'm used to.

Today I have OPI Navy Shatter on top of three coats of Essie Splash of Grenadine. Splash of Grenadine is a cooler pink that is great for summer! I was so excited to try the navy shatter and I was not disappointed. Like black shatter from OPI, navy went on perfectly, and I used just once coat. I like the Navy especially because of the interesting combinations you can make!

Overall, I am a big fan of the navy shatter, however I'm not sure how much longer the trend will last!

Also, I realized the pink and navy reminded of a really cute top in my closet! Identical haha.

Do you like the shatter trend, or are you ready to move on?

New Obsession: Tyler Ward

Hi everyone!

Sorry for all of the late night posts recently, I'm still getting used to this whole 9-5 thing!

Speaking of work...I was listening to Pandora while doing all sorts of things, and a cover of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream came up. I immediately thought, who is this, and why don't I own all of their songs already?

The cover was by Tyler Ward, and since finding it I have stumbled upon all of his covers and original songs. Tyler takes popular pop songs and puts his own acoustic twist on them...even some songs you might not think would work acoustically- such as Dynamite by Taio Cruz or Club Can't Even Handle Me. Somehow...he makes all of these songs amazing!

Can't stop listening!!

Check out Tyler for yourself below, follow him on twitter @tylerwardmusic and find him on youtube!

Are you a fan of Tyler? Will you be checking out his tunes?

My Take On: Sally Hansen Crackle Antiqued Gold

Hey guys!

Last night I was anxious to try Sally Hansen Crackle in Antiqued Gold which I've had for a few weeks now. I'd seen it in several other blog posts and it did not look appealing to me at all. It looked chunky and had barely any "crackle" to it.

I started with two coats of Butter London Victoriana, a gorgeous blue with gold/silver flecks in it. Based on what I had seen on other blogs, I went with just one, very thin coat of Antiqued Gold and no top coat.

Every minute I have this on, I love it more and more. Although it might not be as "shatter-y" as OPI's Shatter, it has a similar effect and is not as startling to see to anyone who is not in on the trend.

What do you think of Sally Hansen's Crackle? Will you be trying it anytime soon?

Coral + Pearls Mani

Happy Sunday everyone! Today I have a really fun manicure!

I'm going to a friend's wedding today and I'm wearing a coral dress that I just love.

I wanted to do something special for today so I painted my nails with the Limited Edition Maybeline Express Finish in Coraliscious. I LOVE the Express Finish line because it is one of very few "fast dry" polishes that works. It literally is dry in 50 seconds.

I used three coats of Coraliscious and then to add some flare, used some pearl stickers by Recollections that I had in my scrapbook supplies stash. I used one larger pearl and two small on each nail.

The pictures show the color as more orange than it really is. I really love the way this turned out! It classes my nails up a bit and is funky without being too out there. The only downside is I am so scared the stickers will fall off or get messed up but they survived the shower and sleeping.

Have you ever tried a mani with stickers, rhinestones, etc.?

My Full Review of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" album

Hi everyone! This is my first post written on the iPad so hopefully everything turns out as normal.

I didn't want to write a review for Born This Way until I had a chance to listen to each song a few times. Now that I am in my car commuting to and from work everyday I have plenty of time to listen!

If you've been following my blog for a while you'll know that I am a huge gaga fan and am always on the lookout for new tracks, videos etc. I was so excited to get the full Born This Way album and it seems that most of America and the world felt the same way based on sales. Gaga even crashed Amazon because of so many downloads!

Now to the review...I won't say much about the singles that were released prior to the album but you can refer to my previous posts about those.

1. Marry The Night: starts out slow but gets quite jam-my with the chorus. Overall greatness! Must check out Zedd remix of this (included in the deluxe album).
2. Born This Way: By now everyone has heard this in the club, on the radio and basically everywhere. Love the song but am still perplexed by the comparisons to Madonna's Express Yourself (the two are identical!)
3. Government Hooker: A little bit darker, and probably controversial to some...very funky gaga track. Not sure what language she speaks in the beginning but I like it. Very sexy song.
4. Judas: Again, most have heard by now but I still love this track. Gets stuck in my head forever but not my favorite on the album. Great music video!
5. Americano: Probably my least favorite, just doesn't do anything for me. Like the class though!
6. Hair: Another pre-released track...same vibe as Born This Way as far as lyrics and theme go "I was a loser but be whoever you want to be you are great the way you are etc." I'm all for that but I don't see why there need to be two songs like this on the album.
7. Scheiebe: Great dance track, all in German I believe... I heard this about six weeks ago as I know it was used in a Thierry Mugler fashion show. I can see this being very popular for the club scene.
8. Bloody Mary: My personal favorite! It absolutely surprised me throughout the song. Just love the general feel of the song but especially the "dum dum da da dum" part haha.
9. Black Jesus + Amen Fashion: What a strange name for a song, but it's very catchy! Very fun and pure pop and really doesn't have anything to do with religion despite the name.
10. Bad Kids: Same "I'm a loser" vibe but love love the chorus of this song. Very 80's pop.
11. Fashion Of His Love: Another one of my favorites. Very "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" in the chorus but that doesn't mean it's any less of a fun pop song that makes you want to dance around in your room!
12. Highway Unicorn: Cant help but dance to this song, upbeat dance track.
13. Heavy Metal Lover: Reminds me a little of Love Game by Gaga...but same ol same ol, not a standout track to me.
14. Electric Chapel: More religious undertones but the track doesnt sound like Gaga, more like s pop group like Pussycat Dolls or something.
15. The Queen: Straight out of the 80's with a really catchy "que-ee-ee-ee-en" part.
16. You and I: Some of you might have seen Hailey from American Idol sing this and I loved it after hearing it on the show. Almost country pop...but just amazing!
17. The Edge of Glory: Many of you have heard this on the American Idol or on Saturday Night Live but this really is one of the best tracks on the cd.

Overall, the album is very reminiscent of 80's pop but I don't think that's a bad thing...has some religious and political understones and is a perfect cd for just jamming out in your room or dancing with your friends!

Love it! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

First Day of Work Mani: Butter London All Hail McQueen

Hi everyone!

So as some of you saw in my twitter post last night, I started an internship today and wanted more professional looking nails (the Zoya Phoebe below might have been a bit much!)

I got some great suggestions but finally settled on one of my all time favorites, Butter London All Hail McQueen.

It was perfect for my first day as it is a professional nude/greige with a little shimmer to it. Love it!

ALSO! Shout out to Butter London for some good customer service. I recently tried to use my bottle of Rosie Lee only to find it was completely dried up. I emailed Butter London about this problem and they sent me a new one that came in the mail today! Thanks! Butter London!

Hope everyone has a great week!
