You Make Me, Feel Like I'm Living A-

Teenage Dream!

Like millions of other people, I watched Kate Middleton's own Teenage Dream come true this morning bright and early. She looked amazing and I loved watching every second!

Yesterday I updated my OPI Cozumelted in The Sun to add some sparkle for the wedding. I added two coats of OPI Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry collection. I'm always surprised how much I love this color and I found myself staring at my nails a majority of the day! It's so fun and girly and of course adds some major sparkle!

Karmin

If you are an avid Youtube-r then you just might have heard about duo Karmin. Amy and Nick of Boston cover songs you might not expect.

Amy is especially talented in the rap department (seriously!)

Check out one of their newest videos that premiered today below.

My Take On: OPI Cozumelted In The Sun

You know that polish that you always look at when you're at the store, but never get?

OPI Cozumelted in the Sun was mine. I finally bought it recently and was really excited to try it!

I was surprised to find that it is a pink/coral foil. Application was pretty good, and I used three coats, topped with Essie Good to Go. I think it's a great color for summer but might be a little too metallic for my liking.

Glitter-ific

So I am not at a point yet where I can put on a $14+ nail polish and take it off after one day...so instead I'm just changing up the colors I have on until I take them off.

I tried out Butter London Blagger this week, and added CND Sapphire Sparkle to my thumbs. Last night, I thought I would try my first ever Glitter Gradient.

I added about four coats of the CND color to my nails to create a subtle but really pretty gradient.

Til The World Ends Remix

Check out this sick remix of Britney Spears' 'Til The World Ends.' The remix features her new tour-mate Nicki Minaj and Ms. Glitter herself, Ke$ha.

My Take On: Butter London Blagger

Blagger is a deep and bright blue from Butter London. It is vibrant and jewel-toned and in the bottle looks just gorgeous.

Application was perfect, and even one coat was very dark. I only used two coats. For just a minute, it looked a bit like OPI Ski Teal We Drop, but in the light Blagger is much brighter.

Fun fact: What does Blagger mean?

  1. (informal) A smooth talker, a persuasive person.
  2. (informal) A thief or robber, one who blags.

For a fun twist, I used CND Sapphire Sparkle on my thumbs.

Overall, I love it! Application was perfect, the color is fun and vibrant. I would recommend it for summer for sure!

What do you think of Blagger? Do you like the sparkle on the thumbs?

My Diagonal Manicure

This week, I had planned to use a fun and bright spring color, but after finding about an interview on short notice, I quickly switched colors onto the work-appropriate Essie Pop Art Pink.

I love this pink because it isn't sheer, it takes the typical three coats to look perfect- unlike many other pinks I have that take upwards of 4 coats!

After the interview, I decided to spice things up a bit. I added a diagonal stripe of OPI Big Hair, Big Nails.

The result:

I love how this ended up, and it was so simple. I used tape to cover the pink, and did just two coats of the OPI. Some of my friends said it reminded them of ice cream, and one said it reminded them of the 60's!

This is a really fun, simple and EASY way to change up your nails!

Who Run the World (Girls) Finally Released!

Beyonce's new single, "Who Run the World (Girls) has finally been released! I love all things Beyonce, whether it's her Sasha Fierce alter ego, or her seemingly normal, yet completely ridiculous life with hubby Jay-Z.

What do you think of the new song? How does it compare to the world phenom that is and always will be "Single Ladies"?

New Lady Gaga Leak-Judas

Lady Gaga's next single, Judas, has already been stirring up quite the controversy about the upcoming music video, where apparently she portrays Mary Magdalene.

The song leaked today, and you can check it out here:

What do you think of the song? Excited to see the probably shocking music video?

My Take On: Butter London No More Waity, Katie

So, I couldn't wait to try No More Waity, Katie from Butter London.

In the bottle, it looks like a grey/purple color with some sparkle.

Up close I found it looks literally like Essie Smokin' Hot...

With a dash of lavender glitter mixed in.

Application was a bit of a mess, and it was very thick and uneven. After three coats, it evened out and with some Essie Good to Go, it looks great!

My nails:

From further away...

Something that caught me by surprise was that from a distance it looks like a dupe for the Essie Smokin' Hot that I love.

All in all, classy looking color, OK application, and brings a little shimmer to a gorgeous grey.

This Just In

It feels like Friday because two new Butter London colors just arrived on my doorstep!

Cannot wait to try Blagger (on the left) and limited edition Royal Wedding color No More Waity, Katie. Both look gorgeous in person, and I can't even decide which to try first!

Pictures and swatches coming soon!

On second thought, might have to save No More Waity, Katie's debut for my potential Royal Wedding watch party next week!

Today's Color

Today I'm wearing Essie Tart Deco. This orange color is great for Spring, which we are just starting to see here in Kansas.

My only beef with this color is that when I put it on, I love the peachiness of the orange. But when I put on a top coat (and I've tried several) it makes the orange on the neon side of things.

Fun, bright and springy!

Rolling In The Covers

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know who Adele is. She is a beautiful and unbelievably talented brit who writes songs that hit home for many of us.

Her most recent album, 21, has been breaking records all over town. You've probably heard her hit single, Rolling In The Deep on the radio by now.

What's most interesting and amazing about this song, is the number of covers that are being released, some by unknowns, and some by huge stars like John Legend.

John Legend's Cover:

Another cover, by lesser known R&B hipster, Mike Posner is a laid-back take on the intense song:

Rolling In The Deep - Mike Posner by TheListenerLabel

A heartwarming cover by New York's PS22 made me smile from ear to ear:

What's so special about this song, is that each of these versions is so different and stirs up different feelings, but they are all so raw and simply put, just damn good.

Of course, here is the original Rolling In The Deep by Adele.

Enjoy!
